11 Apr The Making of Our German Chocolate Cake
If you are an avid chocolate lover, no doubt you’ve heard of German Chocolate Cake. This popular cake remains a delicious treat for anyone searching for chocolaty goodness.
Despite its somewhat misleading name, the German Chocolate Cake did not actually originate in Germany. Actually, this American cake dates back to 1852, when a baker by the name of Samuel German invented a type of baking chocolate: “Baker’s German’s Sweet Chocolate”. Over 100 years later, in 1957 a Texas news show featured a recipe for “German’s Chocolate Cake” created by a Mrs. George Clay. It featured the very chocolate Samuel German invented a century prior. Eventually the name became “German Chocolate Cake” as more newspapers published the recipe and increased its popularity.*
miFLAVOUR always listens to our valued customers’ preferences and makes cakes that are often adopted to miCAKES collection. Therefore, due to its popularity among our customers, miFLAVOUR has happily created our own unique presentation of German Chocolate Cake. Now even more people can enjoy it! Please welcome your new favorite German Chocolate cake. We call her KALLY and she is now part of the miCAKES collection!
We researched the original recipe and made our version even better. This chocolate cake features a sweet and flavorful custard created with evaporated milk, coconut and pecans in between each layer. The sides are carefully frosted with chocolate buttercream and delightfully garnished with alternating white and semi-sweet chocolate drip. Chocolate is the star of this cake, and we gave this ingredient all the attention by topping the cake with a pure chocolate figurine.
